Oghak NGO organizes regular workshops. You are welcomed to support our workshops and have your input in our mission!
We organize seminars and workshops dedicated to parenting, pedagogy, personal growth, psychology, and training of future mothers. The cost of organizing one workshop is 3,000 USD. In your support to our program, donations can be made to cover the complete or part of the costs of organizing a workshop.
Oghak workshops are interactive and cover a diverse set of topics – from professional development to life skills. They are organized by masters of their field.
Personal Growth and Psychology
Teachers
Vera Sisserian (Personal Growth Courses), Nayiri Shorjian (Psychology Support Group)
Over the years, our personal growth and psychology courses have excessively developed to include teaching of soft life skills, creative and critical thinking, self-awareness, mindfulness and resilience to mention a few areas. The classes, which are designed to help individuals realize their potential, also include counseling. They take place once a week and extend over the entire year.
Oghak implements its activities in a way that all participants have the opportunity to take better care not only of their mental and psychological health, but also of their physical health, and, above all, achieve personal growth and positive approach to life.
To fully accomplish the above goal, Oghak also organizes healthcare seminars, lectures and breast examination campaigns.
Healthcare
Lecturer
Ashkhen Kapoujian
Throughout the years, Oghak has organized several seminars and lectures by physicians and healthcare practitioners on various healthcare topics. In a constructive learning environment, the participants acquire much-needed knowledge on health topics and further discuss issues they are interested in with the lecturer.
Campaign for Breast Cancer Screening
Since 2016, Oghak organizes an annual breast screening campaign, in cooperation with the Armenian American Healthcare Center. Every year, the participants of the previous year’s campaign, as well as new participants get screened as part of practicing preventive healthcare. As of 2022, around 150 women have taken part in the campaign. The Oghak Team also follows on the screening results and, whenever necessary, applies the adequate measures for additional clinical exams and treatment. These campaigns become possible thanks to the generous donations by Diasporan Armenians. You, too, can support our campaign by donating $50 and save the life of an Armenian woman.
Future Mothers
In September 2018, a seminar titled “Future mothers” for pregnant women was organized under the leadership of Dr. Anoushik Abrahamian. During the seminar, the participants received important knowledge on physical and psychological healthcare related to pregnancy, and were given instructions on various exercises and yoga practices that are beneficial for pregnant women.
Pedagogy & Psychology
Oghak organizes professional seminars on various topics related to pedagogy and psychology.
Parenting
Seminars and training courses on topics related to positive parenting have been organized in Nork Marash, Gandzakar village near Ijevan (Tavush region) and in Drakhtik village in Geghargunik region. Upcoming courses are planned to take place in Ajapnyak district in Yerevan and Talin city in Aragatsotn region.
Psychological First Aid
Oghak organizes annual Psychological First Aid (PFA) courses, which take place in three stages. Subsequently, the participants of PFA courses take part in a follow-up training program.
PFA courses provide participants with knowledge of disaster preparedness, such as how to properly organize psychological first aid.
